Psych

On Friday, my class watched another mystery called 'Psych' case 1- Pilot. I am going to highlight evidences in red, clues in blue and each element in yellow.
The main character or detective in this story, Shawn has extraordinary observation skill and this special ability helps him and his friend, Gus, to solve a crime.
Shawn solves one crime for police and he goes to the police station to get the reward. Before he meets the chief, he sees one criminal and finds red splits of glasses on his shirt. Then Shawn tells him to get rid of that because he knows that it will be an importance evidence for police to solve the crime. The criminal thanks him and brush out them. He finds that some pieces went inside the criminal's left boot but stays quiet. Right then, the chief calls him to come and Shawn went inside, expecting to get a reward. However instead of getting a reward, he becomes number one suspect because chief thought his explanation was so perfect that only the criminal can explain like that. Shawn was getting into a trouble but he lies that he is a psychic. Then he acts like strange man and says that the evidence police is looking for will be in the criminal's left boot. (He knows this because he saw the red splits of glasses falling into his left boot.) The chief goes to look if he's right and actually he was right. Then, another police officer comes and asks him to solve a kidnapping crime because Shawn said he has psychic power and they thought it would help them to solve kidnapping crime.
So, the crime is that somebody kidnapped Mr. Mccallum Jr. Shawn and Gus went to Mr Maccallum's house to find some evidences or one of the steps of investigation. They find out that Mccallum. Jr always go with his dog everywhere. Then Shawn and Gus who are detectives, goes to Mccallum's cabin and finds a dog there. So that proves that Mccallum Jr. stayed in the cabin. Then they call the chief to the place and Shawn acts as if he used psychic power to find a dog. After finding the dog, the chief calls SWAT team to surround the cabin. When Shawn looked close at the dog, he finds that dog has bloody whisker. Then in the cabin, Shawn and Gus finds a bunch of evidences such as coffee machine, cup, two victims, Mccallum and his friend, a broken tip of a table and gun in Mccallum Jr's friend's hand. Later, Shawn and Gus together steal the bag from the man and at first, they found a bunch of clothes in it when they actually expected that there were 5 million dollars in it which are for ransom money. There is a sense of danger in chase between Shawn and the guy. But after they stole a bag, they arrange 5 dollar bills and finds that the bag can exactly hold 5 million dollars. However, Shawn finds out that the kidnapper wanted the things done really quickly and not wanted the ransom money. Then, Shawn starts to suspect Mr. Mccallum but nobody believed Shawn. Everyone thought that Mccallum's friend killed Maccallum and suicide. But Shawn realises that the case is going totally wrong. When he looked at Mr. Mccallum's wounded wrist, Shawn thinks that Mr. Mccallum's alibi, which was he cut his wrist off because he was so devastated, was red herring. There is also a sense of tension when Shawn tells Mr. Mccallum what he thinks. He says that Mr. Mccallum was just thinking about the security of his son. So he gave ransom money and while he was driving back, he found something strange. He found a familliar car on the road. It was Mccallum Orso's. He knew where he lives. He also knew where his cabin is. When he went into the cabin, he found his son making coffee. He was so mad at his son that he accidentally killed his son. Later, Mccallum Orso comes in and finds Mr. Mccallum and Mccallum Jr. dead. Then, Mr.Mccallum shot him and made it look like Orso had done everything. But Mccallum Jr's dog watched the crime scene which means that it is witness and bit his wrist and that was how he lost his wrist and the reason why the dog's whisker was bloody.
Shawn knew that Mr. Mccallum was a villian. Then Shawn calls the police and acts as if he is not Shawn told them to capture Shawn and Gus. When the chief was about to put Shawn into his car, Shawn wails, "Arrgh!! There is a dog's fresh teeth mark!! It is still fresh! Check his wrist! Check his wrist! Arrgh!!"
Then the police officer says that she is going to check his wrist right now. Then, Mr.Mccallum confessed that he did the crime accidentally. This shocked everybody (Surprise ending).

This was a really great movie and I think this is better than Monk. This one had surprise ending but Monk didn't. As I said last time, I think surprise ending makes movies or books fun and very interesting. Maybe next time, I will watch another case, "Spelling Bee".

6 elements of a mystery

1. Crime: In any mystery, crime must be included. Looking at mystery books or movies, detectives always try to solve unanswered problem, another word for "crime". A crime is an illegal action, as you can see in the picture, trying to shoot a person with a gun, which remains unanswered later and detectives come to solve what happened. The people who committed the crime can be punished by laws if they are caught.
2. Detective, inspector, sleuth and agent: To solve a crime, detective comes. In another word, detective is a person who tries to solve unanswered problems, or crime. One of the famous detectives is Sherlock Homes who has pipe in his mouth, magnifying glass and a hat.
3. Villain: Villain is a bad guy who committed the crime. Villain is also "wanted man". Detectives try to solve a crime as well as try to catch the villain to find out the villain's motive why he/she committed the crime.
4: Evidence: Detectives try to find evidences to catch the villain because evidence helps solving the crime. Evidence is a thing that can be touched like hair, fingerprint while clue is a thing that cannot be touched.5: Suspects: When detectives got enough evidences, they suspect people who done the crime which is suspects, with their evidences. Detectives examine the person or ask some questions. One of the suspects might be the villain or might not be the villain.6: Surprise ending: For me, I think surprise ending is really important. Surprise ending makes readers go flabbergasted. This keeps the book very interesting, fun, fascinates the readers and most importantly, makes people think in different, wide and various ways.

Mr monk and the voodoo Curse

I know I should just write about the conclusion of Mr monk and the voodoo Curse but I enjoyed this movie so much that I am going to just tell the story about it. Needless to say I am going to write the conclusion as well. (The story is in black and the conclusion is in blue.)
When I heard voodoo Curse, I thought the story is going to be scary which turned out to be true.
One day a boy hit homerun and the ball hit an elderly woman called Martha Murphy and she died. Everyone thought it was a total coincidence. However, when Martha's family went into her house to get things in order, they find a strange package. Inside the package, they find a doll with a baseball attached next to its head. Then, Monk is called to investigate this case. At first he thought it was coincidence as well but Natalie who is Monk's assistance, kept saying that the doll has real power. He didn't believe it at first but then there was another voodoo doll with lightening attached to its neck found at the dead golfer's house who was killed by lightening. And then there was another voodoo doll found at the dead man's house who got killed by heart attack. There was a woman named Angeline and her uncle was the victim. In that house, Monk found the horse shoe nailed upside down which actually should be nailed the other way.
Monk and police officer suspect the guy called Reverend Jorgensen, who sells the voodoo doll however he has perfect alibis. Later, Natalie was terrified when she found a voodoo doll that had her name on it. But, Monk found something strange. Natalie's last name was misspelled. The neck of the doll fell down when Monk hold it. Monk called Reverend Jorgensen to have ceremony to convince that Natalie will be fine. Then Natalie drinks the potion prepared which actually should be used for skin. Monk calls an ambulance and Angeline comes. She is a paramedic so she took Natalie. Right then, Monk remembers that Angeline was always on the newspaper and Reverend Jorgensen tells him that Angeline bought 5 to 6 voodoo dolls from his shop. Monk and Reverend Jorgensen chase after ambulance. In the ambulance, Natalie finds her name was misspelled and was frightened. Angeline tried to strangle her neck but Reverend Jorgensen ran into the ambulance car at right time and Natalie was safe.
Later, Monk finds out why Angeline was doing this and what happened. Her motive of doing this was to get a large amount of her uncle's money.
First, the crime was murdering. What happened was that Angeline mailed empty packages to herself and waited until there was a crime. When there was a crime, Angeline went to the spot to examine the dead person since she was paramedic. While investigating, she stole his/her key and later, she makes a doll and sneaked into the victims' house and put down the voodoo doll and the package. Since there was no one seen the crime, there were no witnesses. However Martha Murphy and golfer's death were just red herrings and Angeline's real purpose of making voodoo dolls was to make people believe that her uncle also died because of voodoo doll and nobody will suspect her. Angeline actually killed her uncle by using drug. She knew which drug she should use because she was paramedic. Inside the ambulance, Natalie found her last name misspelled and noticed she was the villian. The sense of danger can be found in the chase between Monk and ambulance.
This movie was really cool. I never watched Monk before. Maybe I should buy DVD and watch it.
